They're the first indication from Hollywood about who could win what at next month's Oscars.

And the results from the Golden Globes suggest it could be a good year for British stars.

Helen Mirren was the biggest winner , picking up two awards for her performances of two queens: Elizabeth I and Eliabeth II.

In her acceptance speech there was a royal thank you. But the scriptwriter for The Queen struck a less gracious note.
