Fighting escalates in Somalia

Dozens of people have been killed and more than 150 injured in a day of fierce fighting in Somalia.
Now Islamic insurgents have retreated from their positions around the presidential palace.
As Somali government forces battled to seize control of rebel strongholds in the capital Mogadishu, African Union peacekeepers were forced to intervene to preserve their own supply routes.
But it is the insurgents' links to al-Qaida that are worrying the west.
