Activists say 157 people are dead and hundreds more are injured after security forces opened fire on protesters in Guinea. Jonathan Miller reports.

The UN secretary general has condemned yesterday's violent crackdown by security forces in Guinea after they opened fire on tens of thousands of protesters in the capital, Conakry.

Witnesses accused troops of firing indiscriminately on the crowds, as they urged the country's military ruler to step down.
