Police investigating the death of a man found near a bench outside a hospital are now treating the case as a murder enquiry.

James Peter Shepperd was found at around 10.15pm on Friday night on a paved area outside Mansfield Community Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

A post mortem on the 51-year-old, who lived in Mansfield, found he died of a head injury.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said four 15-year-old males were arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Morgan said: "We have now launched a murder investigation and whilst we do have people in custody I would still like to appeal to anyone with information surrounding Mr Shepperd's death to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01623 483 953 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
