David Cameron's hopes of adding some Hollywood glitz to this year's Tory Party conference have taken a knock after it emerged that Arnold Schwarzenegger had pulled out of appearing in person.

The former movie star, who is now the Republican Governor of California, will speak to delegates via a live video link instead.

Mr Schwarzenegger said he was "disappointed" not to be able to attend the Blackpool conference, due to delays in the Californian legislative programme.
