Terror whistleblower walks free

Updated on 09 January 2008

By Channel 4 News

Charges are dropped against a civil servant who sent classified documents to the national press.

He leaked confidential details of Britain's counter-terrorism policies. But civil servant Derek Pasquill has walked free from court after the charges against him were dropped.

Derek Pasquill sent classified papers to The Observer and New Statesman, said to include conversations between ministers about secret CIA flights to transport terror suspects.

Mr Pasquill said he had been completely vindicated in "exposing dangerous government policy and changing its priorities".
