'Terror suspects filmed by BBC'
Updated on 18 October 2007
Three of the five men on trial for undertaking terror training were filmed for a programme called Don't Panic I'm Islamic, a court has been told.
Woolwich Crown Court heard that Mohammed Hamid, Mousa Brown and Mohammed Al-Figari were filmed for the BBC programme during a paintballing trip to Tonbridge, Kent, in February 2005.
The jury was also played tapes from a bugged property in Hackney, east London.
The tapes revealed Hamid and others talking about taking a trip to Morocco, which would cost them just £7 a day, it was said.
Hamid talked about it being a chance "to learn your roots" on the tape recording.
Five men deny terror and weapons offences.
Hamid, 50, of Clapton, east London, denies providing weapons and terrorist training, soliciting murder and possessing terrorist documents.
Al-Figari, 42, of Tottenham, north London, denies attending terrorist training and possessing terrorist information.
Brown, 41, of Walthamstow, east London, denies providing and receiving weapons training.
Kibley da Costa, 24, of West Norwood, south-east London, denies providing and attending terrorist training and possessing terrorist documents.
Kader Ahmed, 20, of Plaistow, east London, denies attending terrorist training.
