A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering a semi-professional footballer.

Oliver Kingonzila, 19, was stabbed following a fight outside the E Bar in Croydon, south London, in the early hours of September 13.

Tristan Burke, 18, of Stanton Road, Croydon, pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to murder and was remanded in custody to face trial on April 20 next year.

Mr Kingonzila, from Croydon, was described as a "gentle giant" by friends and was studying business at college.

He had captained the Barnet under-19 football team and the England Colleges FA in a match against Italy.

His older brother Herve, 27, died of a heart attack while playing football earlier this year.
