Police investigating alleged child abuse in Jersey have found a sixth tooth in the cellar of a former care home.
Detectives leading the investigation at Haut de la Garenne said the tooth is a child's, but it is not known if bone fragments found at the same time are human or animal.
It follows the discovery of bone fragments and five teeth, thought to be from a child aged four or five, in the cellar on Monday.
Those remains are undergoing examinations including carbon dating and DNA tests in the UK, with results expected next week.
Haut de la Garenne was dubbed the "house of horrors" after a child's remains were found in February buried under a stairwell.
More than 100 people claim they were abused at the home with allegations dating back to the 1960s. Some have talked of underground punishment rooms where they were drugged, raped and beaten.
Forensic teams have uncovered a network of four secret underground chambers at the site where they found the teeth.
In the other chambers police found shackles, a bloodstained bath and the haunting message "I've been bad for years and years" scrawled on a wooden post.
Haut de la Garenne is at the centre of an historic abuse inquiry that has seen all care centres on Jersey investigated.
Police have said there are more than 40 suspects.
So far only one man has been arrested in connection with Haut de la Garenne.
Gordon Claude Wateridge is charged with three offences of indecent assault on girls under 16 between 1969 and 1979 when he was warder at the home.
The 76-year-old, originally from Croydon, Surrey, appeared in court on Monday and his case was adjourned for further hearings on Monday June 9 and Monday July 7.
He has not yet entered a plea.
A second man has also been arrested as part of the wider inquiry into abuse.
Claude Donnelly, of St Brelade, is charged with raping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl between 1971 and 1974 on the island.
He appeared before magistrates on April 30 when the case was adjourned until May 28.
The 68-year-old has not entered a plea.
