The American pair fought out a close first set, but Serena won a tie-break to take the advantage.

And she took an early hold in the second set, breaking her Venus's serve and clinching victory by breaking serve again in an epic final game to win 7-6 6-2.

It was the fourth time the Williams sisters had played against each other in the Wimbledon final, and Serena has beaten Venus in three of those matches.

The sisters have now won the title eight times between them.
