Royal Mint medal honours Sir Bobby

Updated on 06 November 2009

Source PA News

The life and times of former England football manager Sir Bobby Robson are to be remembered in a special medal commissioned by the Royal Mint.

The Royal Mint said the honour was normally reserved for members of the Royal Family but it was right to extend this to Sir Bobby, who died of cancer in July.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of the medal will be donated to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, the charity the former England, Newcastle, Barcelona and Ipswich manager founded.
