RIP prescriptions?

As Viagra goes on sale over the counter More4 News asks whether the days of drug prescriptions could be coming to an end.

When is a prescription medicine not a prescription medicine? 

Perhaps when it is sold over the counter at a chemist - and yet Boots, who from today will be selling Pfizer's male impotence drug Viagra, insist their pharmacists' consultations do indeed retain the health checks a doctor would give. 

So, could the female contraceptive pill be the next product for which a visit to the doctor becomes unnecessary?
