Queen is Britain's oldest ever monarch

The Queen passed another milestone on Thursday when she became Britain's oldest-ever monarch.

She has beaten the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria who lived for 81 years, seven months and 29 days.

The landmark day also brings the head of state closer to breaking Victoria's record for the longest reigning monarch.

However the Queen will need to reign for another eight years if she is to reach this milestone.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in London on April, 21, 1926 and was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York.

During her reign, the Queen's accolades have already included being the first British monarch to send an e-mail and to have a message put on the moon.
