A detailed examination was taking place at the site of a helicopter crash which killed the 54-year-old pilot.

The Robinson R22 helicopter came down in a field close to the village of Sandtoft, near the M180, on Saturday afternoon killing the pilot who was believed to be making his maiden solo flight.

Humberside Police said the 54-year-old pilot came from West Yorkshire. Most of the victim's close relatives have been contacted, although formal identification has yet to take place, a police spokeswoman said.
