Paedophile reforms could be widened
Updated on 17 June 2007
Reforms allowing parents access to information on paedophiles who may pose a specific threat to their children could be widened in the future, Home Secretary John Reid has indicated.
Mr Reid told Sara Payne, who has campaigned for information on potential predators to be freely available since her daughter was murdered by a serial paedophile, there was a possibility the changes could be extended.
In an interview conducted by Mrs Payne for the News of the World, the Home Secretary also revealed that the reforms announced earlier this week were backed by Prime Minister-in-waiting Gordon Brown.
