Updated on 21 January 2008

Jurors have begun examining the home of Steve Wright, the man accused of murdering five prostitutes.

The jury of nine men and three women visited the flat in a terraced house in Ipswich, Suffolk, where the forkllift truck driver was living when he is alleged to have killed the women.

Wright lived at 79 London Road, in Ipswich's red light distict, with his partner Pam Wright.

It is the first stop on a tour of sites that the jury will make connected with the case.

Wright, 49, denies murdering Gemma Adams, 25, Tania Nicol, 19, Anneli Alderton, 24, Paula Clennell, 24, and Annette Nicholls, 29.

The trial began at Ipswich Crown Court last Wednesday and is expected to last at least six weeks.

The jury heard how detectives launched an inquiry after Miss Nicol vanished on October 30 2006.

Just over two weeks later, Miss Adams was reported missing after going to work in Ipswich's red light district. Her body was discovered in a brook at Hintlesham on December 2 2006.

Six days later, Miss Nicol's body was found in water in the nearby village of Copdock.

The body of Miss Alderton, who had not been reported missing, was found in woodland at Nacton on December 10 2006.

And on December 12 2006, the bodies of Miss Clennell and Miss Nicholls were found in woodland at Levington.
