Kylie Morris is the new face of More4 News.
More4 News has appointed its Asia Correspondent, Kylie Morris, as the new presenter of More4 News. Kylie takes over from Sarah Smith who was recently appointed Washington Correspondent for Channel 4 News.
In her new role Kylie will set the daily news agenda for More4 News. Her strong background in foreign journalism will complement the programme's strong foreign affairs remit.
Kylie has played an integral role in Channel 4 News' foreign team since joining as Asia Correspondent in May 2006. In the past year alone she has produced some insightful and distinctive journalism covering the plight of women in Afghanistan and the military coup in Thailand.
Kylie was also part of the team that won the News Event category at this year's Royal Television Society Journalism Awards for Channel 4 News' coverage of the war in Lebanon. The team were among the first to reach border towns like Bint Jubeil which had been cut off for weeks by the fighting.
Since its launch in October 2005, More4 News has gone from strength to strength, continually outperforming all news channels in the 8pm slot. The programme has built a reputation for groundbreaking journalism and giving a voice to a range of different perspectives on what's happening in the UK and in the rest of the world.
Within a year of going on air the programme has made a name for itself delivering distinctive journalism. The programme was shortlisted in the final three at this year's Royal Television Society's Journalism Awards for the News Programme of the Year accolade.
Jim Gray editor of Channel 4 News said: "Kylie has bags of journalistic authority and character, and I'm really looking forward to the energy she'll bring to a programme that's already on the map, thanks to a great start from Sarah."
Kylie said: "More4 News is many things. But at heart it's a programme with a burning interest in the world, and telling original stories to its audience..... that's what's driven me as a foreign correspondent for the last seven years, so it feels like a natural fit. It's a great show that in its very short lifetime has already had a lot of impact.
I'm looking forward to working with the wildly professional, albeit slightly anarchic, team of young journalists who've made it such a standout show in record time."
Peter Dale, Head of More4 added: "Sarah is a tough act to follow but I'm delighted that Kylie will become the new face of More4 News. Her vast experience in reporting on international affairs and her analytical skills are second to none so she's a perfect fit for the programme."
