Mercury prize: 'It's a huge, huge thing'

Channel 4 News speaks to some of this year's Barclaycard Mercury prize nominees, including Kasabian, Bat for Lashes and Lisa Hannigan.

The 2009 Barclaycard Mercury prize nominations were announced earlier this week.

After the announcement some of the bands spoke to us Channel 4 News about their nominations, their aspirations - and their music.

"We made a 21st century rock'n'roll record," said Serge Pizzorno of Kasabian. "For us to be here now and up with the other great albums is a really important thing," added Rhys Webb of The Horrors.
