Memory championships open in London

Joanna Simpson joins the 62 competitors taking part in the World Memory Championships, which opened in central London today.

It is often said that the skill of memorising facts and figures is being lost in the age of Google and Wikipedia.
Why bother to store information in your brain when you can access it via a server?
But not everyone sees things that way.
Over the next few days, dozens of competitors from around the world are pitting their grey matter against each other in a central London hotel.
