Labour in 'lowest ever' poll rating

The latest opinion poll has put the Tories a massive 26 per cent ahead of Labour.
Support for Gordon Brown's government fell to 23 per cent - the lowest since records began in 1930.
David Cameron's opposition, fresh from success in the local and London mayoral elections last week, secured the support of 49 per cent of people in the YouGov survey.
Labour's support was even lower than the share of the vote it received in the local election mauling.
The figures come a fortnight before Labour faces a crunch by-election in Crewe and Nantwich.
But Gordon Brown can take comfort in the fact that his party would be even less popular if it was led by the Labour colleagues who are the favourites to succeed him or by predecessor Tony Blair.
