Labour 'boosted by Glasgow victory'
Updated on 12 November 2009
A by-election battle from which Labour emerged with an 8,000 majority will transform the party's general election chances, a senior minister said.
Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy said Thursday's victory in Glasgow North East gave the party a huge morale-booster and a "real sense" that it could win the next election.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown said of the result: "This shows that when we fight hard we win."
