Hunting the bombers

Updated on 15 July 2005

By Simon Israel

The hunt for the London bombers spreads abroad: to Egypt - tonight British anti-terrorist police and MI5 officers are heading for Cairo to interview the chemistry lecturer Magdi El-Nashar.

He's thought to have rented the house in Leeds where the explosives used in the bombs were made. Police also believe he knew the fourth bomber - Lindsey Jamal - but left Britain days before the attacks. Mr El-Nashar has denied any involvement.

And news within the last few minutes - Pakistani security forces say they've detained four suspects in the central city of Faisalabad.
