Great northern trains cancelled

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 08 November 2009

A First Capital Connect train

The great northern route is normally staffed at the weekend by workers who volunteer for overtime.

But as pay negotiations between First Capital Connect and the union reached a sticking point, drivers decided not to volunteer this weekend.

Union leaders said workers were not on strike, they were merely exercising their contractual right not to work on Sundays.
