Funeral honours Lt Col killed in Afghanistan

The coffin of Lieutenant Colonel Rupert Thorneloe is taken to its final resting place as the Prince of Wales and the head of the British army join mourners at his funeral.

The funeral service for Lieutenant Colonel Rupert Thorneloe, an army officer killed in Afghanistan two weeks ago, was held today.

The commanding officer of the 1st Battalion the Welsh Guards is the highest ranking army officer to be killed on duty since the Falklands war.

The Prince of Wales and General Sir Richard Dannett were among those attending the London funeral.

The cortege left the home of the 1st Battalion the Welsh Guards in Aldershot and travelled to the regimental headquarters in London.
