Eurostar services to resume

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 21 December 2009

Eurostar is to resume "limited" rail services through the Channel Tunnel, but it has warned potential passengers not to try travelling unless they have to.

Services have been suspended for the past three days after trains began to break down due to adverse weather conditions - leaving passengers stranded in often unlit, unventilated carriages.

The company has apologised, but was apparently spurred into action when the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, summoned its chairman to the Elysee Palace to order him to get the trains back on the tracks.
