Diplomat resigns after sex scandal

A British diplomat in Russia has stepped down after a video was posted on the internet allegedly showing him with two prostitutes.

James Hudson resigned as deputy consul general in Ekaterinburg after the video appeared on the internet.

The film, which lasts four minutes and 18 seconds, was posted on a Russian news website under the title "Adventures of Mr Hudson in Russia". The Foreign Office has confirmed Mr Hudson's resignation but did not comment on the whether it was him in the video.

It has been suggested that the film was made by Russian security services in order to leave Mr Hudson open to blackmail.
