Coroner blasts US for lack of help

Updated on 16 April 2007

The US military has come under fire again from a coroner hearing inquests into the deaths of servicemen in Iraq.

At the reopening of an inquest into the deaths of eight British servicemen killed in an American helicopter crash in Iraq, Oxfordshire Assistant Deputy Coroner Andrew Walker said the lack of help from America was "inexcusable".

The men became the first UK casualties of the Iraq war when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed south of the Kuwaiti border early on March 21 2003.
