Climate change email claims ‘rubbish’

The University of East Anglia scientist at the centre of a row over leaked emails dismisses claims that they prove a conspiracy to alter evidence about climate change.
The dispute started when emails written by Professor Phil Jones, from the University of East Anglia's world-renowned climatic research unit, were stolen by hackers and published on websites run by climate change sceptics, causing a furore in the US.
Professor Jones said today he stood by the science his colleagues produced, while conceding he had used "poorly chosen words" in some of his emails.
He has described the suggestion of a conspiracy to alter evidence as "rubbish" but he has conceded he regrets sending some of the emails.
