Channel 4 News scoops five RTS Awards

Channel 4's flagship news and current affairs programme won five Royal Television Society awards, a record for the programme now in its 24th year.

The programme, which is made by ITN for Channel 4, won awards for the best home and foreign journalism, for the best young journalist, specialist journalist and best journalist of the year.

Presenter Jon Snow won the award for best journalist for his scoop in revealing the Attorney-General's legal advice on Iraq and for powerful reports from New Orleans, Pakistan and from Africa. The scoop on Iraqi legal advice also won the best home news award.

Jonathan Miller, the programme's Foreign Affairs Correspondent was voted best Specialist Journalist of the Year and also won the International News Award. Faisal Islam was voted the best Young Journalist of the Year.
