London Mayor Boris Johnson donned a pink cowboy hat as he led the annual Gay Pride parade through London.

Mr Johnson has been accused of homophobia for comparing gay civil partnerships to marrying a dog. He also supported keeping Section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988, which banned local authorities from promoting homosexuality.

But the Mayor sought to put this behind him when he joined tens of thousands of Pride London marchers for a noisy and colourful procession through the heart of the capital this afternoon.
