Baby P's mother 'truly sorry'

The mother of Baby Peter apologises for the pain and torment her son suffered before his death, admitting she had failed as a mother.
In a letter to the judge ahead of her sentencing tomorrow she said she punished herself on a daily basis.
Seventeen-month-old Peter died in August 2007 after months of abuse. His natural father also gave a statement to the Old Bailey, describing the last time he had seen his child - and telling the court his life had become a "living nightmare".
