Another bank fired risk manager

By Siobhan Kennedy

Updated on 18 February 2009

More damning evidence has emerged about the conduct of the Financial Services Authority in the run-up to the credit crunch worsened last year.

More details have emerged about a second case of a bank firing senior staff who warned against risky commercial activity

At the time of the Northern Rock collapse, the FSA claimed that this was its only instance of regulatory failure

But earlier this month, HBOS whistleblower Paul Moores told MPs he had been fired for raising concerns that the rapid growth of HBOS was a 'serious risk to... consumer protection'.

There were concerns raised about the level of risk being taken at the Icelandic bank Kaupthing, with warnings from the then head of risk Conrad Clarke and Head of Compliance Chris Aujuard.

In 2007, they were fired and went to the FSA with their concerns but no action was taken.
