Afghanistan debate: how to take part
Updated on 11 November 2009
Join in with our live debate at 7pm on Britain's role in the war in Afghanistan via Twitter or e-mail.
Jon Snow will be hosting the debate in Coventry, where several guests will discuss the issue and we will take your questions via Twitter and e-mail.
Twitter is the most effective way because it is quick and we can show the questions on screen instantly.
Jon said: "We're in Coventry because this is the English city most grievously flattened in the second world war, most closely identified with both remembrance and reconciliation. Its ruined cathedral still stands as testament to both.
"It's a logical place to consider today's war. A war more etched upon the national psyche than at any time since it began eight years ago.
"We have gathered people from across the nation and across the social spectrum, not because of any office or position they hold but simply to talk about the war. They will be joined by several soldiers and some of those who have lost loved ones in the conflict.
"Why are we in Afghanistan? How are we to judge the progress of the war? And as President Obama considers sending many more troops, should we too?"
How to take part
If you have never used Twitter and want to take part you can watch the video on the right, where Krishnan explains how to join.
You have to set up an account and all you need is your full name, and an e-mail address. Twitter's sign-up page also asks you to give yourself a username and a password, then you are free to use the service whenever you log in.
Messages are limited to 140 characters and if you start your message with '@channel4news', we will receive it in the newsroom.
You don't have to wait until the programme begins at 7pm. You can send your questions throughout the day and we'll use as many as we can on air tonight.
If you're not on Twitter, you can send an e-mail to news@channel4.com but please put 'Afghanistan debate' in the subject field and send it as soon as possible so we can gather the e-mail questions before the programme begins.
Once you join Twitter, if you visit the Channel 4 News page and hit 'Follow' at the top of the page, you will receive every Tweet we send.
