Training light on my way to the Olympics

Guest blogger Olympic weightlifter Michaela Breeze gets ready for some lifting in Beijing.

Just arrived last night in Hong Kong and then caught a ferry to Macau where Team GB have a holding camp. We got upgraded to business class on the flight which was nice, it gave us a little more leg room.

I trained light this afternoon: I snatched up to 45 and clean, and jerked up to 55, which was all I planned for, just to get the journey out of the system.

We are staying in a very nice hotel by a beach. Although we are not going out in the sun unnecessarily. Quite a few athletes are here now and it is quite a relaxed atmosphere. We have everything we need and have settled in quite well. The food is good too.

It's very hot outside. It's a sticky heat, but we are inside and in air con most of the time. The training room is well air conditioned and fully kitted so we can condition as well as lift.

I am pleased to have the journey behind me and am now looking forward to flying to Beijing on Monday. The days are ticking by so quickly. I could do with a few more to get my leg strength back up after an injury, but I am really looking forward to the Games getting underway and supporting others in the team after I have done my job.
