Training for the Olympics with weightlifting medal hope Michaela Breeze

Michaela Breeze, Team GB's only female weightlifter at the Beijing Olympics, blogs on training, eating, and Richard Hammond.

All is well here on the weightlifting front. I'm away training with my coach in Wales for a few days at the moment and things are progressing nicely.

Life at the moment seems to revolve around eating, resting, recovering and training. No time for social life but I am passing time by reading Richard Hammond's autobiography. A good read if you get a chance. I usually read sporting autobiographies but this one stood out.

Rest and recovery is so important at the moment, I seem to spend a lot of time icing sore joints from training and I know it sounds lazy but generally chilling out.

As always I'm finding it hard to eat as much as I need. Training for a power sport requires a very high protein diet. A typical meal will be salmon or chicken with rice or potatoes or pasta.

My movements for the next few days are back home tomorrow where I can start to pack, receive any physio I need and try to contain my excitement ahead of Wednesday's journey to China.

I will try to write again before I fly, if not I'll give you the lowdown on the holding camp out in Macau.

Michaela
