Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou is planning to run at the Olympics in Beijing, four years after pulling out of the Athens Games at the last minute.

Thanou was banned from competition for two years, along with fellow Greek sprinter Costas Kenteris, after missing a drugs test just before the 2004 Olympics.

Both athletes were asked to withdraw from the Games and handed in their Olympic accreditation.

Thanou claims she achieved the Olympic qualifying time earlier this month and was already part of the Greece squad.

The International Olympic Committee have said they'll examine her eligibility if she travels to Beijing.

Thanou and Kenteris still face charges in Greece over an alleged motorcycle crash just before the Athens Olympics and they will be tried early next year.
