Shaw banned for two weeks
Updated on 05 July 2009
British and Irish Lions lock Simon Shaw has received a two-week ban after being cited for dangerous play during Saturday's third Test victory over South Africa.
England forward Shaw was found guilty of striking Springboks scrum-half Fourie du Preez with his knee just before half time in the 28-9 victory.
Shaw received a yellow card for the offence, but he was then summoned to appear at a disciplinary hearing.
Shaw is the second Lions player to be cited on their ten-match South Africa tour, following Scotland forward Nathan Hines who received a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle during the 13-13 draw against the Emerging Springboks in Cape Town.
