Rebecca Romero has won her second gold medal of the track cycling World Championships with victory in the team pursuit.

The former rowing world champion, who won the individual pursuit on Thursday, added to her personal haul in partnership with Wendy Houvenaghel and Jo Rowsell.

Defeat of the Ukrainian trio in the final brought Great Britain's gold medal tally at the championships to five.

Romero, 28, looks on course to win Olympic medals in two sports.

She was part of Great Britain's rowing team at the 2004 Games in Athens and won a silver medal in the quadruple scull event.

Two years ago, she quit rowing to take up cycling.

Romero said of beating defending champion Sarah Hammer in the individual pursuit:

"She is a class act. I believed that I could do it but I knew the main problem would be if she pulled out a massive ride and I didn't.

"But if you ride with a passion, if you start with that, it feeds you."

The Great Britain team has been one of the dominant forces at the cycling world championships.

Bradley Wiggins won the men's individual pursuit, and he won the team pursuit title along with Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas and Paul Manning in a world record time.

Victoria Pendleton and Shanaze Reade have also won the women's team sprint title.
