Rio satisfied with progress
Updated on 08 October 2008
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes England are making steady progress under Fabio Capello.
England have played seven games since Capello replaced Steve McClaren, winning five times and losing only once.
Ferdinand said: "I think there has been a steady improvement in each and every game.
"I would prefer a gradual improvement to a crazy one in the first game and then up and down.
"I think we are moving in the right direction.
"If we can qualify for the World Cup, then we can say the manager has steadied the ship."
