Poland will be allowed to play their World Cup qualifiers but they could still lose Euro 2012.

The Polish Football Federation (PZPN) was suspended last week by the country's sports ministry for allegedly failing to address corruption issues.

But World Cup organisers Fifa say they have received assurances that the Polish government will stop interfering with the federation so the matches against the Czech Republic and Slovakia will go ahead later this month

A Fifa statement read: "Fifa has received an exchange of communications between the Polish sports ministry and the Polish FA (PZPN), which indicates a positive evolution in the situation of the PZPN."

But Euro 2012 organisers Uefa could still take the tournament away from Poland and Ukraine.

A Uefa spokesman said: "They have to realise they are playing with Euro 2012. How can we trust a government to host the tournament?"
