Andy Murray is preparing to defend his Qatar Open title in Doha after seeing off Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Abu Dhabi last week.

The 21-year-old is desperate to secure a Grand Slam title this year and proved that he is not far from achieving that goal when he beat the world number one and two en route to securing the World Tennis Championship.

He could face Federer for the second time in a matter of days if he beats Spain's Alberto Montanes - ranked 43rd in the world - and then the winner of the match between Christophe Rochus of Belgium or Dmitry Tursunov of Russia.

The Scot will be defending the hard-court title he won last year, when he made light work Ivan Ljubicic in the final.

Murray's emerging star status was bolstered last week when he and brother Jamie signed up with 19 Entertainment, which is owned by Simon Fuller and represents David Beckham, the Spice Girls and the England football team.

It is a deal that could net him up to £100 million from commercial and sponsorship packages.
