Everton manager David Moyes has set his sights on British transfer targets in the summer.

In the last 12 months, Moyes has signed three foreign players: Nigeria international Yakubu, Denmark midfielder Thomas Gravesen and South Africa midfielder Steven Pienaar.

His only British signing in the last year was defender Leighton Baines from Wigan, who has only started 11 Premier League games after hamstring, ankle and calf injuries.

But Andy Johnson, Phil Neville and Joleon Lescott are all key players at Goodison Park and Moyes wants to recruit more British players.

He said: “When we took over at Everton the aim was to avoid being in the bottom six. Now it is to be in the top six so our buying had changed a little bit.

“The players that we brought in to keep us out of the bottom six have gone on to prove that they can all be part of the top six. So we must look at the market and I am very keen to keep bringing in British boys."
