A remote Scottish island is set to be a tourist attraction after uncovering one of the world's oldest golf courses.

The 18 hole at Askernish on the island of South Uist in the outer Hebrides are regarded by many as a masterpiece.

It was designed by Old Tom Morris, the legendary golfer who won the Open four times, and it was finished in 1891.

But a runway was built on the course in 1936 and the course was abandoned.
