Manchester police defend reaction

Police in Manchester defend their reaction to the violence in Manchester overnight after allegations they were heavy handed with fans.
Thousands of Glasgow rangers supporters caused mayhem in the city centre last night after a screen due to show their Uefa cup final against Zenit St Peterburg failed to work.
Manchester set up three dedicated fan zones for those without tickets to the game to watch it on giant screens around the city centre in Cathedral Square, Albert Gardens and at Piccadilly Gardens.
Minutes before the match started the Piccadilly screen stopped working and disorder broke out with fans throwing bottles at the screen and nearby police officers.
Our North of England correspondent Nick Martin followed riot police, filming them as they drove fans back away from the square to disperse them throughout the city.
