Sunderland manager Roy Keane has released four players and warned the rest of his squad he is ready to let others leave.
Andy Cole, Ian Harte, Stephen Wright and Stanislav Varga will not be offered new contracts when their current deals expire in the summer.
Keane said: "I have sat down with Andy, Ian, Stephen and Stan and they won't be getting new contracts."
Keane's former Manchester United team-mate Dwight Yorke will also be out of contract at the end of the season, but he could still earn a new deal.
Keane added: "I've had a chat with Yorkie and we are due another discussion next week, he has one or two options.
"It's not as if it has to be done this week, contracts don't expire until the end of June, but it's only fair to put the players in the picture."
Keane warned his players he will not stand for anybody winding down in their final game of the season against Arsenal on Sunday.
