The details of the deal allowing England cricketers to play in the Indian Premier League have been revealed.

The England and Wales Cricket Board initially offered to make their centrally-contracted players available for two weeks during the month-long 20-over competition.

But IPL officials wanted access to the players for the entire month.

A compromise deal was struck allowing England players will be able to play in the IPL for three weeks in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Every England player who appears in the IPL has to give ten per cent of their earnings to their county and they must return in time to play in the first Test against the West Indies at Lord's on May 7.

Players who do not have a central England contract do not have to return until May 8, so they are available for the entire IPL tournament.

ECB chief executive David Collier said: "The discussions held between our respective boards have been most productive and ECB is grateful to the president and honorary secretary of BCCI for the excellent relationship which has been developed with the BCCI on a wide ranging number of issues.

"Our agreement is good for the players, the respective boards, our counties and for cricket. We look forward to welcoming India, the reigning ICC World Twenty20 Champions, to England for the ICC World Twenty20 this summer and for the tour of England and Wales in 2011."
