Robbie Fowler is holding out for a permanent contract with Blackburn Rovers.

The former Liverpool and England striker has been on trial at Ewood Park this summer and it is understood he has rejected an offer to be paid per appearance for the club.

Blackburn manager Paul Ince still hopes Fowler will sign a deal but he confirmed the club will not be rushed into making a decision.

Ince said: "These things do take time, especially when the agent gets involved.

"I'm not unsure about Robbie, I'm just unsure as to when it will get done.

"There is no deadline, though, because he is a free agent and not tied down to the transfer window."
