England's greatest escape?

By Samira Ahmed

Updated on 21 November 2007

After Israel's victory at the weekend, England's footballers only have to draw with Croatia tonight to qualify for Euro 2008.

On the day of England's most important game of the year, where the team have to stop the opposition from scoring, it is perhaps not very reassuruing that a rookie goal keeper has been called into the side.

Steve McClaren is thought to have opted for Scott Carson over Paul Robinson for England's great escape against Croatia at Wembley tonight. David Beckham has also been dropped in favour of Shaun Wright-Phillips.

England cannot afford to lose the game if they want to qualify for the Euro 2008 Championships.

Channel 4 News spoke to His Excellency Mr Josko Paro, the Croatian ambassador, about the prospects for tonight's game.
