ECB chairman 'will not quit'
Updated on 18 February 2009
The England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Giles Clarke insists he will not resign over the agreement he signed with the Texas billionaire, Sir Allen Stanford, for the sponsorship of a $20m Twenty20 competition.
Sir Allen was last night charged by the US Securities and Exchange Commission with a "massive fraud", prompting the ECB to break off negotiations over possible future deals.
But the affair has brought huge embarrassment to the cricket establishment.
Neil Davidson, chairman of Leicestershire county cricket club, believes Clarke should stand down.
