De La Hoya makes retirement plan
Updated on 29 February 2008
Former Olympic boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed he will retire later this year.
But he wants three more fights first and he has arranged a bout with Steve Forbes in Los Angeles on May 3.
De La Hoya said: "People say this is a tune-up fight but I'm not falling for that trap.
"This is a real fight and I have plans for this year of fighting three times and I'm going to do it.
"He's a tough opponent and I'm going to get ready for Steve Forbes as if this was the last fight of my life."
Forbes has never been knocked down in 38 fights as a professional.
He said: This is a fight between two masters of the fistic arts so I will come to win and I will be ready."
